The Digital Attic, located in Long Island, NY originated from an IT consulting practice we ran back in the "pre dot com" era c.1996. At the time, we provided both network integration services and custom built non-linear-editing (NLE) video workstations. When the internet exploded with companies clamoring to get on the web, our focus turned toward services almost exclusively. The ride was great for the most part, but we always desired to get involved with multimedia products again. Last year some major life changes occurred for several of us, and we decided to rekindle that desire. As an exercise, we built a multimedia oriented website for collectors and enthusiasts. Wishing to offer Sony Media Software products like Vegas, Acid and Sound Forge, we found one of the largest East Coast distributors of high quality digital video and audio products right in our backyard. As the saying goes "timing is everything" and this now seemed the right time to establish an eCommerce presence on the web. After mulling over several options to do this, we decided an eBay store offered the best mix of risk vs. reward, and the Digital Attic was born. Why the name Digital Attic? The "digital" part... well you can guess that one. The "attic" part is a bit more interesting. First and foremost, attics have always held a unique place in popular culture as wondrous spaces where discovery of long-lost items that have been covered by dust and forgotten behind other objects occurs. Second, attics are mostly used to store things we don't use very often, but are quite reluctant to get rid of, be it for need of them in the future or for sentimental reasons.Since our journey over the last decade brought us back to multimedia and NLE (discovery of something long-lost) and many of the products we carry are used to "store and archive" video and audio production projects, the name Digital Attic just seemed to be a natural.
